Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Founded in 2020, we are striving towards being the strong KNOOP ('knot' in English) at the beginning of a life-changing journey for our crafters.

KNOOP ACADEMY NPC (2017/523657/08) exists to develop more sustainable crafters by empowering them to create a higher standard of originally designed South African products. We work with existing programmes (sewing, crochet, beadwork, leatherwork, woodwork etc) and offer them support and training to increase their level of skill, quality of work and market share.

Where Skills are Built
Every programme we embark on is customised according to our client's requirements. We chose our donors carefully. We want to partner with likeminded people that believe in our learners. That want to track their progress, want to see them succeed and want them off the dependency grid over 2 years.

We structure our programmes around post-production waste, so our clients benefit from both measurable Skills Development Solutions as well as Waste Solutions, that would otherwise end up in landfill. Knoop Academy's holistic approach to training includes basic business skills, thorough craft skills development and design input as well as a further incubation opportunity and ongoing mentorship, marketing and sales support.

I'm Brenda Scheepers
I started my career as a sample set manager, pattern maker and designer in the clothing manufacturing industry in KZN. Thereafter I ran my own fashion atelier making bespoke garments for high end clients. I'm passionate about original design and making something out of nothing. I have always wanted to empower women and see people thrive using their God-given talents. Now I get to do both!
